Ala Modalaindi... i just came home after watching this movie now.. its been close to two years I have ever written a blog.. after watching this movie.. i felt there is no better time to start it all over again..

the protagonist keeps trying till he/she finds their true love till the end of the movie.. essence being never give up.. until you succeed..

what I liked about the whole movie is the way the emotions have been expressed out by each character.. I felt some one in each screening of the theatre will definitely associate themselves with atleast one character in the movie.. such is the way the movie is shot.. these comments and complements are from my end and purely personal..

Leaving the story and the characters ... the movie gives a strong message... if you are confused ... then the path you are leading is wrong... change the course of the path and find the one which makes your life full.

There Is'nt a Way out of our Traffic Problems!!

Some of my friends asked about a way out to the rising and pending Traffic problems in our country in general and metros' in particular. Some even suggested effective implementation of traffic rules will be a solution. Yes implementation is vital after a thorough project proposal is made. But, I know I will be a devil's advocate here being a pessimist rather an optimist.

Lets look at the scenario from the traffic rule violator, First pops out is our own, Auto Wallah, isn't it? This guy is known to break every rule written in a Traffic Regulations book. Here are some snapshots as to how they behave/violate traffic:

• When no passenger is available he snails the auto in the middle of the road
• When ferrying passengers he barges into every available space on the road
• Parks his auto erratically at bus-stops
• Slows down suddenly at his own whim
• Cuts through traffic as if he is on a DO-NUT performance Stint
• Does not care a damn to honking of horns from behind

Now we see this regularly, what we don't see is why he behaves this way, take a look:

• Most of the Auto's are hired on a daily basis for more than Rs 350/- a day
• Gasoline/Motor Spirit charges extra
• Has to pay Mamool(Bribe) to traffic police in his area to run his auto
• Has to earn as much as can in the 12 hour stint on the road which is very difficult
• Unless he makes Rs 500/- per day he cant earn a meagre Rs 3000/- a month
• Has responsibility on his shoulders too, which adds to his erratic traffic behaviour
• Too many Auto's plying in a limited area makes competition cut-throat to survive

Lastly, He is not Well-Educated, we see 7th pass, 10th Fail, Inter discontinued drivers mostly. Very few are graduates and they are very few to count.

Others who violate the traffic rules are

• Road Transport Bus drivers
• Teenagers who zip through traffic
• Non-Licence holders driving vehicles on borrowed basis include(servants of shop owners, staff of service providers like financiers, money lenders, plumbers, mechanics,carpenters,flower merchants, vegetable vendors, electricians and other petty businessmen)
• Girls, Women - Yes Majority of Girls who drive Scooty+, Activa, drive without a helmet and without proper driving skills which makes their driving dangerous for them and fellow commuters
• Truck drivers - We omit them here because they are not allowed to ply between 6 a.m through to 11 p.m in city/suburbs

Now having said this, Effective implementation of the traffic rules need to be addressed. But How? We have answers but do we have a implementation mechanism in place? The answer is Straight NO!

Under powered Staff of the traffic department. On an Average a traffic cop at a busy junction has to control 1000 vehicles per hour for 8 hours. Pedestrians excluded! Apart from manning traffic and regulating it, he also has to book cases on account of helmet-less, licence-less,RC-less, Pollution Certificate-less, Insurance-less violators who come into his junctions' jurisdiction at the same time be freely available to breathe Carbon Monoxide Gases, Nitrogen Oxides emanating from Vehicles and get prone to respiratory disorders at a later stage of his/her life.

How about Awareness to individuals plying on the roads? Can we do that? Still NO!!

Perhaps no one told us that if we are pedestrians we are also liable to abide by the rules of the Road! Huh, How many are even aware that walking on the road is a Right too! Roads are owned by the Government, Roads and Buildings department. Now who will go and explain a pedestrian that he/she should only cross the road when the signal is green for him/her to do so and Not erratically crossing the road even when the vehicles from the opposite direction are coming onto him/her? Who will implement a Common Minimum Program sort of a rule to all the Road Users barring emergency services like, Ambulance, Fire Brigade, Police, VVIP’s Vehicles that they have to strictly follow the rules or face severe penalty coupled with punishment of losing the licence/ seizure of the vehicle etc., We have come across some novel mechanisms from the Traffic department that violators will have to attend compulsory classes on road sense and traffic behaviour, but how much is drilled down into his/her head after the class?

We all know that if we are caught, we can do away with our offence by paying some penalty either through negotiation or through proper channel(e-seva), but is the penalty big enough from barring us committing the same offence once again? Take a look:

• Rs 200/- for driving a vehicle with temporary number plate
• Rs 100/- for Helmet Less Travel
• Rs 150/- for travelling without proper documents
• Rs 1000/- for not having a licence and registration papers

Among these entire offences look at the penalty involved. Today I pay, tomorrow I manage to escape is the attitude of many offenders. Moreover you can ask to pay in cash and not need a receipt and get the penalty amount to a paltry Rs 50/- and get away with the offence.

If the Tree is Rotten, finding fault with the fruit is not the answer.

Lets contribute and figure out how???

An Odyssey! Come home safe!

I went to receive my best friends a few months ago from Hyderabad International Airport. One came to attend the wedding of another.. during the 45 mins to 1 hour journey into their respective homes, I drove them. To my surprise they commented.. " in the last 5 years in Australia we have never honked the horn as you are doing now.. why do u have to blow horn so
many times dude??"

It seems they hardly blow horn at fellow commuters or pedestrians, even if they do, it is few and far between.

This made me wonder actually the kind of traffic i encounter here is quite different to what they might encounter there... i used a strong word encounter because that is what most of us face... we never know who will bump into our car or bike from which place right in the middle of the road!!!

This is the premise on which I will be writing the current post. Yes, this is about the traffic conditions prevailing in a developing economy of ours. Some of the facts which we see around when we hit the road are:

• Absolute disregard to the lane discipline
• Road rage
• Improper pedestrian discipline
• Jumping Signals
• Rash & Negligent driving
  
• Overtaking from the left
• Wrong way driving

Fact remains fact. In our country we have not known that "Driving is a privilege and not a Right" ! No body knows this. Roads are built and taxes are collected to maintain them. Roads are for going from Point A to Point B with less hassles and difficulty.

But what we generally see is- Not be in ones' line but take the line which is vacant! Yes, many of the road users do not stick to their line at all. Wherever there is place they jam their two or four wheelers. If the driver of a Public transport is smart enough he too will do the same. This haphazard fashion of driving results in choking traffic which will choke you to death before being cleared.

I've travelled the entire coastal Andhra Belt right from Prakasam to Srikakulam and our National Highway passe into Andhra Pradesh from Chennai to Kolkata - NH 5 that is! There was not a single day where I have not seen an accident on the highway. This was not due to speeding trucks hitting into tiny autos or two wheelers, incidents mainly were - wrong side driving especially by Diesel autos ferrying passengers from one village/town to another. NH5 does not have much Medians in middle of the road to enable U turn. This was because the speed limit is 80 KMPH. To cut down on the fuel auto drivers/Tractors/two wheelers take the wrong route and collide head-on with trucks coming in the opposite direction. Often it is very ghastly to look at a accident scene - Imagine getting hit to a Truck loaded with goods at 60KMPH! Human body flies into the air leaving the soul behind!

You have seen me more aggressive here in terms of using words but that is the frustration which was mounting on me ever since I've returned to Hyderabad in 2007 after a 7 year hiatus in neighbouring Tamil Nadu - Ah.. what a disciplined traffic you will find in the most Humid city in South India!

The first train from Hyderabad arrives exactly at 5.55 a.m at Chennai Central welcoming you. When you hit an auto or a cab en-route to IIT Madras, you wonder how the auto/cab driver will drive his vehicle cause its predominantly empty roads. But I was shocked to see him stop at every signals' Red light! Yes, irrespective of whether a cop is there to monitor or not! That apart during rush hours too you will find people maintaining lane discipline. Buses to the left, cars and other four wheelers to the extreme right and two wheelers and autos in the middle. Entire stretch of the Anna Salai road - perhaps the longest in Chennai you will not find a traffic regulator, but vehicles simply ply in harmony. I don't say they violate any rules, they do but not at the drop of the hat! Some reasons what I found distinct to Chennai were

• Parking of vehicles not allowed on the road side; you park it in the cellar of the building
• Lane discipline is a must else you will be fined heavily
• Speed limit is also very religiously followed - scary to sit in an auto zipping at 60kmph
• Helmet is a must/ Seat Belt is a must - No questions about that

Having been there and lived I really appreciate the Chennai traffic police department for their service to the city! Hats off to you officers.

Yes the other state I lived for over an year was Gujarat. I've travelled the length and breadth of Gujarat and predominantly lived in Ahmedabad, sometimes shuttling between Rajkot and Vadodara(Baroda). Traffic sense makes non-sense for the guy who has his pocket full of currency notes. Though industrially very rich and infrastructure wise well developed -(Ahmedabad - Baroda Expressway was the First in our Country - Express Way 1 is what its called!) Road sense and lane discipline is tossed to the winds, worse still wrong side driving is considered to be manly by some college going folks especially near the Gujarat University Area very close to our IIM A. Auto drivers never give hand signals; they don't do it anywhere else, but here they pop out their feet to show which direction they are going to turn! Yes, you see this in Ahmedabad and Baroda. Rajkot traffic is not much to comment upon though. My short stint might not capture much but what I felt was

• Rich Dads' buying teens expensive Cars/Mobikes
• Utter dis-regard to the traffic signals
• Highway manners(Sticking to lane discipline, speed sense) negligent or even absent especially on the Sarkhej - Gandhinagar highway - This is where our Nano Project is coming up - Sanand!

Having come to end of this section of the post I feel traffic sense lies with each one of us is'nt it? One of my Professor's in IIT Madras said ? "Discipline is something which comes out of Free Will", but friends having used to the stick approach to every discipline right from school level how can one have a free will towards it?

Lets ponder over and understand that it is us who are at peril on the road not the metal motor which just listens to its master!

How safe are we here!!!

This is quite a contradiction to what I have written earlier. If my earlier post was to highlight the plight of foreigners in general and Indian students in particular, this post will look into the issues of how safe are we living in our own country.

Well, to begin with, let alone xenophobia which many countries' citizens face when the economy is not doing well, we have factionism, regionalism, casteism, and ofcourse sexism. Having being able to live through so much will take a toll of every human living in our own country.

Nothing gets highlighted and even if it gets, we have a very good tendency of forgetting things, as we pack our bags to leave for office or get glued in some multiplex cinema auditorium.

How safe is our place, for us, our parents, sisters, brothers, extended family members, friends or any other citizen concerned. If Shravan was pierced with a screw driver for playing loud music in Melbourne by Australians which sparked wide spread hue and cry and reported an entire nation of Australia to be racist, What would you call a group of guys who killed a bike rider in Old City of hyderabad for removing the muffler and making huge noice disturbing neighbours? Perhaps social policing?

How did we respond to Sri Ram Sene gangsters who barged into a pub in Mangalore recently and outraged the modesty of women? Again Ethics, Social Policing is it?
Then what would we call the Character assassination of Aarushi by the media in full public view? Did anyone think what would have those unfortunate parents gone through when their beloved daughter's death became a sensation in the whole country? Did I hear you say we forgot that incident?

What about Nithari Killings, the uncounted Rape and Molestation in the various sectors of Noida and NCR?

Leave alone Indians, some go to the extent of Molesting Foreigners and Foreign Diplomats? Who is responsible for the unknown deaths of foreign tourists in Goa?

And inspite of these several shameful events, we do not prefer to call ourselves as Racists, Rapists, Factionists!!

If isolated incidents are set aside, look at how Political Parties polarize votes in the name of religion, caste, sex. One of the leading Matinee Idol in Telugu Industry did this to get the vote bank of his community recently in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections which just concluded!

How about MNS? Maharashtra Navnirman Sena formed by Raj Thackeray. Entire 2007 and 2008 were witness to his hostility to North Indians in General and Bihari's in particular. Polarizing Marathis to turn hostile towards North Indians settled in Mumbai, Pune, other major cities in Maharashtra to gain advantage in 2009 General Elections. He won with a thumping majority in Muslim dominated Bhivandi area. What kind of freedom are we talking about when our own fellow country men expel us from writing exams in other states? When fellow country men beat us and send us out of Mumbai, Pune for being a non Marathi speaking person?
Other examples of anti Religion polarizations are in the states of Gujarat, Karnataka. Any political party which supports the Hindutva is sure to win in such states? We are waiting to see the change which happened in Rajastan where Congress whip lashed the BJP!

Now we will dwell on the safety of women in public places. Pregnant women get raped, College girls, working women have to face humiliation in public, either through passing comments, or sexual harassment at the work place, public transport, on the streets.
How about talking about the recent Acid attacks on two Engineering college girls, one of whom died out of burns in Warangal. What do we call this which the estranged lovers do to kill/disfigure the girl who rejects their proposal for marriage/love? Is there a freedom of speech/Expression? Is is not the fundamental right of every girl to live with freedom? Have her say in choosing her husband/lover?

Lets look at the abortions forcefully conducted by the Patel community in Gujarat! Doctors are bribed to scan the foetus of pregnant women much against the Supreme Court ruling that Scanning of Foetus being a crime! The hapless women has to undergo the painful process of abortion in her 5, 6 or even 7 month of her pregnancy just because she is carrying a girl child? What kind of word shall I use to call those Husbands, In-laws who kill their own off-springs just because the foetus is a girl? Where is the safety to these women in the conservative communities in general and patel like communities in particular?

Where do we stand and where does any developed nation or developing nation stands! The result is in front of your eyes.

Now coming to the racism part taking place in Australia, yes its the spill over effect of recession. One fellow who has a job and that too being a foreigner is definitely a potential threat to a citizen who is not employed, not having enough to eat! Passing comments and stating that a country is Racist is just not the way to deal with these issues! Effective implementation of state policies to protect Indians abroad is the task of the Ministry of External Affairs. We have to highlight what best can be done to be safe in a foreign country with the help of our own Diplomats placed in respective foreign locations of Indian Embassies.

Hope we introspect among ourselves before pointing our finger at others!

Indians at stake in Australia - Carefree or Careless country?

We have been witnessing the recent attacks on Indian students studying in Australia. Thanks to the media to glorify these incidents to such an extent making the diplomats take stock of the situation and bring systems in place to protect the best interests of the majority of 1/3rd Indians going to study in Australia. Revenue wise Australia will be hit very hard if Indian students stop going to this country or if they prefer not to study there. Apart from the economics point of view, it is the fundamental need of every Indian student going abroad to be well protected. After-all International students pay more than 2 times the tuition fees to get admission into Universities across the globe. It is the primary responsibility of the state to protect the international students as well as educate its own citizens to behave humanly with different nationals. Having said that let me also throw light over what instigates these foreign students to attack Indian students. Their government has been giving them free subsidies to live and enjoy till they actually want to earn themselves. Perhaps the high social security to the citizens of Australia has seen the reverse trend owing to the global melt down of state treasury. Moral being - "Earn your own bread. Governments kitty went dry"!!
At the same time, International Asian students in general and Indian students in particular have toiled hard to get odd jobs, pay their tuition fees, land up in good jobs and thereafter apply for PR and make a comfortable living. Mind you all this on their own after touching the Australian soil. So the amount of hard work, hard ships faced by our students are far more than the citizens of Australia itself.
Why did this happen then? The skill-less-ness of the Australian students to work hard, earn their living is tough, owing to their lack of educational qualifications, certifications or mere aptitude for a job and that too when the job loss is quite high, dedicated hard working Indians stand a chance to land into jobs better than them. This instigates restlessness and leads to lawlessness. Over the past three years this has been happening but now the snow ball effect has been seen and Indian Diplomats are taking this very seriously.
In this scenario what best can be done to avoid such incidents however keeping in mind that none should face what shravan kumar is facing now is :

• Do not flaunt Gold chains, bracelets, rings etc in public
• Keep a very low profile while alone like flashing credit cards, cash
• Always venture out in groups - "Ten is better than One"
• Avoid altercations over playing loud music, laughing loud in public places

These might sound quite silly, but if we track the reasons behind such attacks, 75% of the attacks happened because Indian students were found flashing their, gold jewelery, credit cards in public places. When even the super rich are avoiding shopping and asking the shop owners to deliver home the goods for the fear of being kidnapped for ransom, how can students who are in the starting stage of their career take risks?

Hope we see a ray of hope and live amicably over this recession filled global economy.

Losing the Battle...

This is continuation to the earlier post on Winning the hard battle...

Here is a reason why other parties lost the elections and are now going to sit in the State Legislative Assembly without any portfolios. The second largest party TDP sitting in the opposition with more than 90 Seats is the only saving grace for N.Chandra Babu Naidu.
There were four major parties which wanted to fight it out blood and soul against the Ruling Congress party;

1. TDP
2. TRS
3. Left
4. PRP

Lok Satta being an exception which I will deal at the end of this post.

TDP: was at an advantage over 2004 elections because of the anti-incumbency factor looming large over a greater section of the society. Factors being

1. SEZ's coming up in agricultural lands
2. Land Mafia rising to the hilt across the state
3. Projects being taken up and not completed - wasting time, energy,money of the exchequer
4. Rising essential commodity prices with no respite of a decline for more than a year.

These were enough to pull the ruling party down. Moreover the recent atrocity against women has risen to uncontrollable levels what with the Acid attacks being seen every other day by estranged "Lovers" on college/school girls.

TDP had lot of these anti-incumbency factors in its kitty and could easily tumble the government had it planned its speeches, Rallies, meetings and debates properly.
The main problem it went into was to bring Film Stars who did not have an iota of information on politicising the situation, polarising the votes based on anti-incumbency factor! The negative factor was the kind of canvassing media it used with just TDP Supremo N.Chandra Babu Naiduat the helm of affairs. Added to this was the fact that he called on his extended family members for support!! this is back lashed and whip lashed by the voters as He was primarily held responsible for the pain and hatred caused during the coup of 1995 elections when he dethroned his own Father - in - Law, Founder of TDP Late Shri.N.T.Rama Rao, and became the Chief Minister of AP. Again shaking hands with the same family members for his political gain was seen as a negative across the state.
Second mistake done was pooling in the most controversial party ever formed in AP - TRS; and Left (CPI & CPI(M)) which is known for nothing except political rhetoric. This mistake of pooling two other parties cost Naidu dear and lost the elections.

Coming to TRS party; the very manifesto is infested; Separate statehood agenda got diluted when KCR broke ties with Congress after 2004; subsequently leading to by-elections. KCR thought its better to join the TDP to beat congress and get Telangana sentiment reel well. But after Mr.Devender Goud left the party and formed another party on account of Naidu deflecting on the issue of Telangana, Wisdom bells rang in KCR's mind and with lot of reluctance and party cadre's resentment joined hands with Grand Alliance or Maha Kutami; To all this was an initiative to get the Ruling party down, but to KCR this was just a gesture to Mr.H.D.Deve Gowda's help during 2004 elections for championing KCR's separate Telangana cause at a Warangal Rally. In the promise that BJP would give Telangana State in 100 days after coming to power KCR felt the heat that the 3rd Front which he was backing up would fail at the national level and his wish to pitch proposal for a separate Telangana would die out, immediately he attended the National Meeting organized by NDA at Ludhiana and joined hands with it much to the criticism of 3rd front leaders. Apart from his mindless and endless dilly dallying of sticking to the guns; the by-elections conducted for his seat and other party cadres on account of his resignation during 2008 saw the real estate boom bust especially in the adjoining districts of Greater Hyderabad - Medak, Mahboobnagar, Nalgonda. Anti incumbency was set in not from any external factors but the way KCR jumped sides, controversial statements made and counter reacting to his own statements made voters realize that he is just filling is kitty with the peoples mandate and playing with the T-Factors' emotional polarization. This was the reason for TRS party's dismal performance in the Assembly gaining just 10 seats and giving just 2 insignificant seats to Lok Sabha.

Left is non existant in AP after the then Government lashed out a whip against the People's War Group of Naxalites operating in Andhra Pradesh. The Left both CPI and CPI(M) have very small and insignificant role to play barring the bordering districts of Khammam, Adilabad, (Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam -Agency Areas). Primary factor being the presence of a large number of workers and unions working in the Coal mines of Singereni Colleries Company Ltd(SCCL) , and the tribals living in the agency areas of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam,. Taking into consideration this small portion of vote bank, there is nothing much for the Left to perform in the Andhra Pradesh except delivering political rhetoric.

Now coming to the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) floated by Mega Star Chiranjeevi to polarise the vote bank of his community of Kapus. His only idea was to give social justice to all concerned. But he started believing that, what NTR did during the 1988 Elections will repeat and he will be CM in less than 8 months after announcing his party in August'08. This would have been true because of the Vote bank being divided between the ruling Congress and the Opposition party TDP if Chiranjeevi's party and its cadre stuck to the point and not make a hulla of activities. What PRP did not understand was the people came to see him speak in political rhetoric and shake hands with him and have a glimpse of their matinee idol and not vote for him for his star image- this is true in this elections because the voter was well connected; well informed and was aware of his needs and aspirations. No person would fool a voter and deflect his vote for an image sentiment. Added to this the party cadres right from the beginning had been involved in internal disputes owing to ticket allocation by Mr.Allu Arvind who many believe had sold party tickets for 5 crore each. For addressing a rally or campaigning in a constituency Allu Arvind charged 1 crore each; this was either through cash; FD papers; collateral's or any kind ; At last Allu Arvind lost the parliament seat of Anakapalli constituency- the buck comes back is a classic example here. Senior leaders of other parties including Mr.Hari Rama Jogaiah was of the opinion that playing with peoples mandate would cost Chiranjeevi dear. Senior Party leader Parakala Prabhakar after his resignation told the press at large that Chiranjeevi and his brother -in-law ran a Company and not a party made matters worse. Chiranjeevi too made silly mistakes which at his helm should not have been done, like yelling to the Palakollu public that because his wife belonged to Palakollu he is contesting from there! In reality politics people are more important than Wife's wish or whim; I wonder how could he make such a statement? He lost Palakollu seat and won sympathy votes in Tirupathi. Had it not been Tirupathi he would have seen political oblivion now.

Coming to the last part of this post - Lok Satta Party.Party founder and leader Dr.Jayaprakash Narayan- won a single seat and became MLA for the Kukatpally constituency. This is a entirely different party with fresh ideas and a fire to transform the society into a cultured; free of corruption; developed one. In today's politics without Beer and Biryani the campaigners too are reluctant to shout slogans, Dr.J.P's policies and ideologies did not sync with the poorest of the poor voter, the mass public at large, the illiterate, the manual laborers etc., what they need is not a society free of corruption, society which is developed; society which lives on ethical standards; but they want is 3 square meals a day, job throughout the year, basic education to their children, health benefits from the government and a place to sleep after a hard day's work. All this is possible through infrastructure projects taken up by the government to get them jobs, health schemes where poor and downtrodden are given free medical care; home and basic education for their children.
Now to get something one needs to give too. So contractors will eat public money, but the government should ensure the project gets completed; Medicines will be pilfered which are supposed to reach the poor; but at least a significant portion will reach them; Government servants will fill their ration bags with the rice and dal given by the government to the poor but at least some of the school going children will be fed with afternoon meals; Let people in bureaucracy Eat/Drink/Relish: But also see to it the project gets completed; its end user is happy; Thats all is what is required in today's scenario and Congress has mastered this art.
Dr.J.P's vision is far too ahead of time and that is why he failed to bring in seats for his cadres in the State Assembly, but with strong conviction I will see Kukatpally being developed as a Model Housing Board in the next 5 years to come under his leadership.

Having said so much, I wish to end stating that the three main basic fundamentals need to be fulfilled by any party which comes to power - Roti; Kapada; and Makaan. And Congress has been doing this and will do it too in the coming years is what I believe.

Winning the Hard Battle in Andhra Pradesh!

Well, friends the recent 15th General Elections also saw the State Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. Congress(I) won with a thumping majority to form Government in the Assembly on its own. This statement has several implications to the opposition parties especially the TDP which wanted to wrestle very hard to come to power. However the Grand Alliance or the Maha Kutami did not fare well in the elections reason being the people's mandate wanting stable government with a secular touch focusing on issues other than caste, religion.

Firstly the Congress party won the elections forming the single largest party in State and contributing a whopping 33/42 Lok Sabha seats to the Centre significantly helping the UPA form the Government at the centre. All these charges would have pulled the Ruling party into oblivion and made the come back of the tech savvy N.Chandra Babu to power. YSR capitalised on the Rajiv Arogya Sri Program - Hi-tech Medical Aid to the downtrodden, 108 - Ambulance service, Rajiv Gruhakalpa Scheme for the shelter-less;Rice at Rs/-2 a Kg, With these schemes successfully implemented and also winning the peoples mandate that if He does not come to power these schemes will drain out from the New Government YSR strongly won the elections.

Another factor was the recent Real Estate Bust which is credited to KCR's by-polls in 2008; which made the Coastal Andhra businessmen turn their backs on investing significantly in Telangana Region especially in and around Hyderabad. The turning point for all these businessmen and other voters from Coastal Andhra was YSR Speech in Nandyal in Kurnool District, after the first phase of elections in the State; where he vehemently pleaded to the people of Rayala Seema and Coastal Andhra that if a separate statehood is granted to Telangana - they would be treated as foreigners on their own soil. He made this so clear that the recency effect principle worked in his favor in the final phase of polls making a clear victory in the elections.

Having said that, the way forward for YSR is to complete all the projects in time, develop the IT sector and pitch in more investments into the SEZs from Foreign Companies; just like Tamil Nadu bringing in Foreign Companies to set up shops to generate employement.
